Rye Cove High School

Home of the Eagles

A little History Lesson….

On May 2, 1929 after the school was destroyed by a cyclone, the new Rye Cove Memorial High School was built in 1930 on the original school site. This building served as both the middle and high school. In 1955, the school that stands today was built and Rye Cove Memorial High, Clinchport Junior High, and Fairview High Schools were consolidated began classes at the new Rye Cove High School. When the new school campus was landscaped in 1956, the Rye Cove faculty chose what trees and shrubs would be planted. English teacher "Miss Pearl" Highfiel chose the oak trees which are still standing in front of the school today.
